The department of Tolima is well known, not only for having the musical capital of Colombia (Ibague) but also because of the big amount of magic stories around the citizens, stories that have been saved through the years in colombian’s mind like the “Mohán”.
There are too many attractive things to do, food to eat, places to know, and sounds to listen, thanks to its awesome weather and wonderful gastronomy, Tolima has become into a touristic place you must have to visit.
Things to do…
If we talk about entertainment, Tolima brings several festivals in different cities, like San Pedro festival, where many people can see representative dances, horseback riding, gunpowder, and listen to a big variety of bands. Besides of those activities, at night, everything is open, you can go and have a dinner in a restaurant, go shopping, or just have fun looking to some cultural events.

Food to eat …
“Lechona”, ”tamal”, and the traditional “sancocho”, makes and important part of Tolima’s gastronomy. The taste and smell of every single dish made with old and classic recipes confirm what people say about it.

All the department show lots of touristic places to visit, such as: its own snowy, museums, parks, grounds, theaters among others that let people either enjoy the view or know about the history of this incredible and interesting department.

Tolima has received a huge cultural influence cause of its location, which is just in the middle of the country, and gets big variety of folklore. The presence of mythic characters of legends delight between smaller and older with complete stories, are also represented in colorful parades or even in crafts. Those well elaborated stories have become in oral tradition because according to what people say, they really happened or continues happening yet.
