El Mohán Story


Once upon a time there was a rich man known as “Sir Cristobal” in the Colombian department of Tolima, he acquired his fortune with the business of fishing, he had too many friends and in the same way too many enemies in the town, most of her friends were fishermen because he helped them in their work; one day he had a premonition that something will happen and he decided to save his fortune underground.

The premonition of the man came true and the place where he lived (Prado Tolima) flooded, he moved to Espinal where he had saved all his treasures near to the Magdalena river, he had to stay hidden in the lagoon and the people of this place were their enemies and they could not know that he was living there because if so, they would force him to leave the place and this wasn’t a possibility because he had no place to go.



When he started living near the river he, in addition to keep helping his fishermen friends they did not tell anyone the secret of his friend because they did not want him to go and stop helping them in their work, he started scaring greedy men because he thought they wanted to rob him his goods besides that they were men who did not want to work hard to get their own assets, as did his friends Fisherman, and in the same way he join his own fortune. He received his name because he was completely covered mildew for being wet all time, because he is always on the banks of the Magdalena River for the reasons previously said.


He likes to play music for his friends, he learned this art when he was just a boy, and his father felt it was a good way to cultivate the mind and become more productive, the fishermen and the washerwomen, these women are in love with his music, they think this is the best music they have ever heard, besides that believe that this music makes more effective and bearable the hard work they do every day in the river bank. The Mohan also likes to see the women who take a bath in the river he admires her beauty, in addition to protect them from all those evil men who want to take advantage of them.


It has been said that some people had seen him most of them fishermen and washerwomen, very few people do not realize that kind of works have seen him, all of them greedy men who have been frightened by him. Fishermen and washerwomen made a monument of him in Espinal, in a way of thanks for all he has done for them, for their assistance in its work and make of Espinal a safer place to live, and which protected them from the greed and many other evils.

He is now covered by mildew, looking at beautiful women and washerwomen; he is friend of the fishermen and scares the greedy men.
The Mohan likes to play music in a lakeside.

They like to take bath in the lake but what they do not know is that while they are doing it, the Mohan is looking at them.


They are hated by the Mohan, for that reason, he likes to scare them when he discovers someone of them doing something bad or when they arrive his grounds.

They prefer to wash their clothes in the lake because they love to hear the Mohan’s music that he plays for them during their Work.



They are friends of the Mohan.
The Mohan protect them of enemies and unexpected incidents that could happen while they are working on the river, they pay him with food.

  2. I love you work because you gave it a very nice organization. It is very easy for me read the blog, the story is wonderful and interesting because you showed a perspective of the Mohan as someone friendly with some kind of people and someone bad with the greedy people, but in conclusion, the Mohan does it for the protection of the place and it is something really different that the other stories that I have read ... and the pictures of the characters are amazing ! :3
