One of the most typical foods Tolima is the suckling pig, a pig filled with other meals like peas, potatoes, rice and minced pork meat. Usually it’s cooked in a wood stove until the animal's skin is crispy and tasty.

Tamales tolimenses
Tamales Tolimenses are known throughout the country. its preparation consists of a mass which is prepared with various seasonings, stews and some meats, such as pork, chicken, beef and bacon, this mass is added boiled eggs and carrots. this mass after being precooked is wrapped in banana leaves and cooked in large pots between water.

Viudo de pescado
There are two varieties of this dish, the first is the classic widower is preferably prepared based on capable and served in banana leaves accompanying it with green banana and yucca. The other variety is the current widower, which is cooked with other varieties of fish like smallmouth, catfish and "Nicuro". This is accompanied with yucca, celeriac, green plantains and potatoes. On the other hand a broth made with tomatoes, onion and garlic oil, which is sprayed over the fish, is done.

Sancocho de gallina
It has to be done with creole chicken, besides this should be accompanied with beef, pork, cassava, potato and plantain. it has a variable, while boiling the chicken is removed to make it gild in a steakhouse. You can serve with rice and avocado and spicy stew according to the taste.

Achiras
They are unique to this part of the country and the department of Huila. They are small biscuits made with flour based on the small tuber of a plant native to the region.

Monumento a la tambora
It was inaugurated on April 7, 1990 thanks to the work of Augusto Castañeda and Adam Cervera Cervera. It is a symbol that identifies the home of composers that identify the folkloric music of Tolima.

San Pedro Festival
The San Pedro Festival is considered as the most folkloric expression of Tolima, also one of the oldest of the country. The first time this festival took place was in 1881 when all town sang and danced for his Saint, but over the years the reason for the celebration has been transformed by incorporating a competition of popular beauty, bullfights, horseback riding, night of fireworks and “aguardiente” everywhere.
